This miniature Angel Song print was inspired by African American artist, Charles White’s Folksinger woodcut. I was looking at powerful and soulful black singers like Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and Whitney Houston while thinking about BLM protests and the struggle for racial justice.

Compassionate creation: I am donating $5 of each Angel Song print sold to the ACLU — justice, one step at a time for the long haul.

This quartet of miniature images is part of Wendell Berry’s new book One of Us, published by Larkspur Press. I’m so pleased to be the illustrator for another “Port William” series book — the images are fun on their own, but the story gives them an added dimension of hilarity.
